“The Sandman” Movie May Actually Be Happening
According to several sources, producer David S. Goyer and Joseph Gordon Levitt have both commented that Warner Brothers is moving forward with The Sandman movie. Screenrant.com reported that in an interview with Deadline, Goyer offered an update on the film:
I hesitate to definitively say when it might go before the cameras, but the one thing different between other iterations and ours is that Neil Gaiman has been in the room with us and is a vital part of the team […] We have a draft Warners is very happy with and we’re moving forward, knock on wood.
This means that Neil Gaiman himself has also been involved, which to us was the most exciting part of this update. The Screenrant article quotes a recent Reddit “Ask Me Anything” where Gordon-Levitt confirmed Gaiman’s participation:
Just had a great conversation last week with David [Goyer] and Mr. Gaiman. Neil has been extremely big hearted with me, and he’s the one I want to please most.
The Deadline article also claims that Joseph Gordon-Levitt will both direct and star in the film. Based on Gordon-Levitt’s comments, he’s more likely to direct than star. Hopefully, all this means that we’ll actually have a legitimate adaptation sooner rather than later.
