Independent Bookstore Day Official Scavenger Hunt

To celebrate Independent Bookstore Day on Saturday, May 9, we have partnered with two other local book shops – Garden District Book Shop and Octavia Books – and with Yelp to bring you a fun scavenger hunt! The idea is to get you to visit all three book shops on May 9 looking for clues to put together a secret phrase. Figure out the phrase and say it, and you’ll be entered to win $75 in gift certificates from all three book shops.

HOW IT WORKS

  1. At the first of the three book shops you visit on Independent Bookstore Day, May 9, 2015, tell an employee that you’d like to participate in the scavenger hunt.
  2. The employee will hand you a sheet with the clues.
  3. You will need to solve each individual clue to obtain a part of the secret phrase.
  4. You will need to visit ALL THREE participating book shops to complete the hunt. When you visit each book shop, get an employee to initial your sheet to prove that you visited.
  5. Put together the secret phrase.
  6. While searching, you may come across a hidden Yelp clock man (there are 2 hidden in each book shop). Find one, and you get to keep it! Take a photo with your clock man and tag Yelp and the book shop on social media.
  7. Once you’ve discovered the secret phrase, tell an employee at the third book shop you visit. That employee will confirm if the phrase is correct. If you are correct, fill out your name, phone number, and e-mail address on the sheet and turn into any employee of the third book shop.
  8. After May 9, all completed scavenger hunt forms will be entered into a drawing to win $75 of gift certificates to all three book shops.
