Writing Camp 2016

Join us for our first ever writing camp! In November, a lot of writers participate in National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) and try to write an entire novel in a month. Whether you’re ready for that or you’re just looking for a kick in the pants to finish that short story or novel you’ve been working on, our writing camp will be great for writers at every level.

In camp, we will have workshops that look at the basics of crafting fiction, including setting/worldbuilding, plot, and character. We will also have write-ins, and at the end of camp, you’ll get a 15-minute consultation from a professional editor on your work. You’ll also get the chance to practice reading your own work aloud in a safe environment with a potluck in City Park. Plus, you’ll receive an awesome writer’s swag bag to encourage you to keep writing! Camp will be flexible and informative.

Wednesday Nov. 2: Drunken Writing Workshop with Brom, acclaimed dark fantasy author of The Child Thief, at Pearl Wine Co. (this will be a ticketed event, but campers get in free!)

Monday, Nov. 7: Write-In

Wednesday, Nov. 9: Setting/Worldbuilding Workshop with Alys Arden, best selling author of The Casquette Girls

Monday, Nov. 14: Write-In

Tuesday, Nov. 15: Interactive Plotting Board Workshop with USA Today Bestselling author Farrah Rochon

Monday, Nov. 21: Write-In

Tuesday, Nov. 22: Drunken Character Building Workshop with Eva Vanrell, author of The Butterfly Crest
