Q: Where is your new location?
We have moved to 432 N. Anthony St., just a few minutes away from our old location! We’re still in Mid-City, closer to Delgado, the cemeteries, Mopho, and Burger King. Get directions to our new location here.
Q: Are you currently open?
We are currently closed for browsing in-store due to COVID-19; however, we are still operating. We are offering porch pickup for any order. We can ship from the shop to you as well; our shipping costs depend on the order. You can also shop online at our Bookshop affiliate site and get items shipped directly to you from our warehouse. We prefer for you to order from us directly vs purchasing through our Bookshop affiliate site, as that is financially better for us. Q: Is ordering from Bookshop.org better than ordering from you directly?
Nope, it sure isn’t! We have an affiliate website on Bookshop.org, and we are currently receiving 30% of the MSRP on those sales. When ordering from us directly, we usually receive anywhere from 40%-50%. So, if you’re local, we much prefer if you order from us directly and come pick up your book. If you’re an out of town customer, though, our Bookshop site is easier and quicker!
Q: Do you accept returns? What is your return policy?
We accept in person returns within 3 days of purchase or with a gift receipt. We DO NOT accept returns without a receipt. Returns are eligible for STORE CREDIT ONLY, no exceptions. Items must be unused, in excellent condition, and in original packaging to be eligible for return. If you purchased a board game, the item must be in the original packaging and unopened for us to accept the return. If you attempt to return a book that we deem looks used, we will not accept the return. Instead, you can exchange the book as a used book. See our Used Book Buying Policy page for more information on our acceptance of used books. The following items are not eligible for returns or exchanges: gift cards, sale items, perishable items, opened board games, and used books.
We cannot accept returns of books purchased via our Bookshop affiliate site. Bookshop handles all those orders. If you have received damaged, defective, or incorrectly shipped merchandise from Bookshop, you may return it within 14 days of the delivery date for a full refund of the cost of the books returned, not including initial shipping costs. To ensure your package is returned correctly, please include the return slip included at the bottom of your paper receipt. Return the package to the address indicated below, and make sure to display the order number prominently on the slip and the packaging. Return postage is to be covered by the sender. Q: Do you accept exchanges?
Yes, we will exchange items if they meet our return standards listed above. If you’re looking for a particular item to exchange for, please either call the store or e-mail us at email@example.com to confirm the item you’re looking for is in stock and/or that we can order it. Items must be unused, in excellent condition, and in original packaging to be eligible for exchange. If you purchased a board game, the item must be in the original packaging and unopened for us to accept the exchange.
The following items are not eligible for returns or exchanges: gift cards, sale items, perishable items, opened board games, and used books.
Q: Do you ship items?
Yes! We can ship anywhere in the continental United States. Most in stock books ship within 1-2 days from our distributor, but some items may take longer to process. We do not ship on weekends or holidays. If expedited shipping is required, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org before placing your order. You will receive an e-mail confirmation when your order has shipped. You can place orders to be shipped here. All orders being shipped must be pre-paid. Shipping costs vary based on the items being ordered.
Q: Do you accept used book donations?
We are not currently accepting used book donations. But normally, yes! We do not pay cash for used books, but you can receive store credit. The amount of credit is dependent upon the type of used book, the condition of the book, and the amount we believe we can resell the book for. We ONLY accept science fiction and fantasy used books. Q: What forms of payment do you accept?
We accept the following forms of payment: cash, Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express, Apple Pay, and Tubby & Coo’s gift cards. We will only accept checks in extreme situations, e.g. OMG I have NO other form of payment! Please have cash, a credit card, or a gift card on you.
Q: Do you sell textbooks?
We do not. We are a niche genre fiction and queer store that sells science fiction, fantasy, graphic novels, children’s books, queer books, and board games, along with queer literature. We can special order anything that does not fall into one of those categories, though!
Q: Have you read every book in the shop?
Nope. Sure haven’t. Do you know how long that would take? We’re super good at making recommendations, though.
